Use Your Keywords!

We have discussed how Google uses keywords for SEO in some of our previous blogs. So what are keywords and how can you use them to improve traffic to your website?

Keywords are search words and phrases that people will use to find information about different topics using search engines. For example, when people are searching for information about Atlanta, GA they might search using terms such as “things to do in Atlanta”, “best restaurants in Atlanta ga”, or “history of Atlanta.” Each of these search phrases is considered a keyword.

Now that we know what keywords are, how do you use them? When building a website for your business, you will need to think of what potential customers might be searching for that could lead them to your website. 

There are various tools available on the internet to help you find keywords. Some of those tools are Semrush, Google Ads Keyword Planner, and AnswerThePublic. Once you list the possible keywords leading people to your website, it is time to implement them. 

You want to make sure to include keywords that will bring a lot of traffic, but you also need to keep in mind that other websites related to yours will likely have the same ones, so it might be difficult to show up higher in search results. 

Some of the tools listed above can help with choosing keywords by showing the ranking difficulty and the expected traffic. The ranking difficulty is how hard it would be to have your website show up higher on the search engine results pages.

Implementing keywords into your website can vary in difficulty. If the keyword is very simple, then putting it in the text on your website is a breeze. If the phrase is a little more difficult then you will have to be a little more strategic. 

The number of keywords that you use will depend on the amount of text that you have on a page. You should generally try to use at least two per web page or blog post on your site, but the more you use, the more traffic you will have to your site.
